Proventia announces Tier 4-compliant NOxPAC SCR system

Rebecca Hayward - 3 June 2014

Proventia Emissions Control, based in Finland, has developed a compact Tier 4 Final Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions system, NOxPAC, which is designed for for 2-5 liter non-road engines.

The new emissions control system houses all of the exhaust aftertreatment components in one package, with a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) mixing length of less than 300mm and a total length of 650mm.

The NOxPAC system is fitted with Proventia's lightweight thermal insulation that keeps surface temperatures low, and the company's SuperTornado DEF Mixing Unit that prevents the build-up of DEF deposits.

"Efficient mixing allows injection to start at very low temperatures, even below 200oC, while still achieving a high NH3 uniformity index of >0.98 in a wide range of engine operating conditions," said Arno Amberla, Vice President of Technology at Proventia. "High NOx efficiency and compact space would allow an SCR-only strategy to control NOx emissions. If EGR can be left out, significantly space is saved in the engine compartment, as well costs," he added.
