Caterpillar releases new Tier 4 Final off-highway trucks

Rebecca Hayward - 17 December 2013

Caterpillar has released new versions of its Cat 770G and 772G off-highway truck models that have been upgraded to meet Tier 4 Final emissions legislation.

The C15 and C18 engines use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology which enables them to meet Tier 4 Final emissions regulation.

The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank is 21.2 liters (5.6 gallons) in size and is located next to the diesel fuel tank, enabling easy refilling of both tanks at the same time. The engine coolant is routed to the DEF injector to keep it cool and to the DEF tank to thaw frozen DEF when trucks are operating in extreme temperatures.

Other advancements include transmission and traction control systems, frame drive-train system enhancements, added operator amenities and serviceability improvements.
