EXCLUSIVE: Kost USA increases DEF price by 10 cent per gallon

Christopher Goodfellow - 2 June 2011

Kost USA has released a notification to its end-use customers and distributors that the price of its DEFendal Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) product will increase by $0.10 per gallon for shipments made on or after 15 June 2011.

This price increase is effective on all packaging sizes including rail, bulk truckloads, 330 gallon totes, 55 gallon drums, and 2.5 gallon 2x1 and 1 gallon 4x1 containers.

Lyle Westerfield, Director of Business Development at Kost USA, told discoverDEF.com: "The fact that urea for use in fertilizers has been hung up on barges on swollen rivers, combined with strong international demand, means the NOLA price reference has spiked.  These events have prompted our DEF price increase to our distributors and their customers."

Westerfield added that distributors will be updated as to price movements on a monthly basis moving forward as part of Kost's aim to implement the kind of price notifications seen elsewhere in the lubricant business.
