Atlantic Bulk Carriers to distribute BlueSky Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

Christopher Goodfellow - 3 August 2010

Lubricant and anti-freeze distributor Atlantic Bulk Carriers is to supply Prime Lube's BlueSky Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, and to vessels working on the Atlantic coast.

Stan Smith, owner of Atlantic Bulk Carriers, said: "BlueSky is API certified according to ISO 22241 to assure us and our customers that they're getting a quality, effective product that meets their expectations for performance. This will allow us to meet the current demand for land-based DEF requirements and establish a strong position with infrastructure already in place to serve the marine market when the time comes."

Atlantic Bulk Carriers has a Letter of Adequacy from the U.S. Coast Guard to deliver fuel over the water, allowing it to service marine vessels and their on-board helicopters and airplanes, in both commercial and federal fleets.

Beginning in 2014, DEF will be required on all newly-manufactured marine vessels in the USA and DEF is already mandated for European-based vessels which use US ports.
