Bulk storage tanks can hold 300 to 4,000 gallons Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). They are designed to support truck fleets of all sizes, which can benefit from the saving of purchasing bulk DEF and easy refill access at their own facility.
DEF corrodes certain materials, such as carbon steel, aluminum, copper and zinc. This corrosion can quickly contaminate the DEF, and will damage the equipment. Bulk storage tanks are made from polyethylene plastic, fiberglass polyester, or stainless steel. These materials ensure that the quality of DEF is protected.
There are a wide range of tank volumes and options available for the installation of bulk storage tanks. These units can require large capital investment and careful consideration needs to be given to the pump system and heating requirements. DEF fluid should be stored at a temperature between 14°F (-10°C) and 86°F (30°C), so a heating system for your bulk storage tank may be required in hot climates. Most mini-bulk units include a pump to dispense the DEF.
