Hyundai begins North American sales of Tier 4 Final HX series excavators

Ben Treadwell - 30 July 2015

Hyundai Construction has launched its HX series hydraulic excavators in the U.S. and Canada featuring Tier 4 Final compliant engines from both Scania and Cummins. The smaller models are powered by the Cummins engines while the largest two feature the engines by Scania. The models range from 22 to 52 metric tons and achieve Tier 4 Final compliance through selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and diesel oxidations catalyst (DOC) systems using diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).  The new engine technologies feature a vertically stacked cooling design, electronic fan clutch, and hydraulic system innovations which aid in increased fuel efficiency of up to 10% when compared with the previous model.

Additional features include 13% faster cycle speeds, intelligent power control (IPC) for computer-aided power optimization based on load demand, and eco breaker mode for selectable pump flow and improved fuel consumption when working with hydraulic breakers and other attachments.
