Hyster announces updated ReachStacker vehicles featuring emissions reduction technologies

Ben Treadwell - 6 May 2015

US Company Hyster has made emissions reduction upgrades to their range of ReachStacker vehicles. The new upgrades feature Cummins QSL9 engines and will use a combination of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to meet Stage IV and Tier 4 emissions legislation. Additional modifications include a high pressure fuel injection system used to reduce particulate matter and a diesel oxidation catalyst to remove any further particulates from the exhaust. Features such as an ECO-eLo mode, RPM management and alternate engine idle speed will also aid in the further reduction of fuel consumption and emissions. The vehicles will see a fuel savings of 25% when compared with the Stage IIIA vehicles.

Jan Willem Van den Brand, Product Strategy Manager for Hyster has stated, "Our goal was to continue our profitable low emissions strategy reducing the total cost of operations and ownership while meeting the new standards for a cleaner environment." The new ReachStacker vehicles are now being produced at the company's factory in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
