Komatsu launches new Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) equipped Tier 4 Final hydraulic excavator

Niels Tholen - 9 February 2015

Komatsu America Corp. has launched its new Tier 4 Final PC360LC-11 hydraulic excavator, which comes equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. SCR consumes diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).

The excavator's 10.3 Gallon DEF tank is designed according to a 2:1 diesel to DEF ratio and is located in a lockable compartment behind the toolbox on the right-hand side of the vehicle.

Besides SCR, the excavator is also equipped with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and a Komatsu Variable Geometry Turbocharger (KVGT) enabling precise engine temperature and air management. According to Komatsu, the new technology upgrades result in longer component life compared to previous models.
