Navistar begins shipments of its first vocational vehicles with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) engines

Navistar Inc. has announced that it has shipped the first of its Durastar and International Workstar vehicles using 9L and 10L engines with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology.

The engines will be used in a variety of vocational vehicles including garbage packing and utility trucks, dump trucks and sewer pumpers. Navistar said that field testing of these vehicles in numerous harsh environments had shown up to an eight percent improvement in fuel economy over the previous generation.

The Durastar is available in a 9L engine configuration, featuring 275-330 hp and 860-950 lb/-ft torque. The International WorkStar is available with 9L and 10L litre engines ranging from 275-350 hp and 860-1,150 lb/ft torque.
