The May edition of DEF Tracker reported that average North American bulk Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) prices decreased from April levels, following a three-month period of price increases. The overall declining trend in DEF prices in North America reflects movements in urea prices, which continued to weaken in the first three weeks of May.
In the U.S., the national average prices for FTL, LTL and tote deliveries decreased US$0.06/G, US$0.05/G, and US$0.02/G, respectively.
In Canada, average prices also declined for all bulk supply modes, with the largest price decrease shown for tote refill deliveries, which fell CA$0.05/L month-on-month in May.
The average U.S. truck stop price remained at US$2.79/G in May, with 28 states posting the same DEF prices in May as in the previous month. In Canada, the average truck stop price has shown some stability, and remained at CA$0.81/L for the second consecutive month, with highest prices reported in Nova Scotia and British Colombia.
Average prices for 2.5 gallon jugs moved down US$0.02/G in the U.S. but moved up by CA$0.40/L in Canada.
