Volvo Construction Equipment launches Tier 4 Final engine technology

Rebecca Hayward - 03 April 2014

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has announced its Tier 4 Final diesel engine portfolio is to meet the stringent US emissions legislation which came into force on 1 January 2014. The engines are available on the D4, D6, D8, D11, D13 and D16 off-highway models.

The majority of Volvo CE's Tier 4 Final engines feature Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to reduce NOx emissions.

Along with SCR, the engines use cooled external Exhaust Gas Recirculation (cEGR) to reduce NOx emissions and an automatic Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) to remove particulate matter (PM) from the exhaust emissions.
