The number of North American truck stops offering bulk DEF at the pump is expected to reach the 1,000 location mark by mid-February 2013, according to analysis by DEF Tracker.
Christopher Goodfellow, emissions analyst at Integer Research and part of the team that produces DEF Tracker, told discoverDEF.com: "There was a marked increase in the number of locations adding bulk DEF facilities in October, which almost doubled on a month-by-month basis, and locations are now coming online at an average of more than two per day."
At time of press discoverDEF.com listed 870 locations with bulk DEF dispensing facilities and in December the number of truck stops in Love's Travel Stops' network offering bulk DEF at the pump reached 200.
There was no movement in the U.S. and Canadian national pump prices between November and December, after a relatively stable period of raw material pricing. The U.S. average remained at $2.79 per gallon and the Canadian at CAD$0.80 per litre.
DEF Tracker is offered to public sector fleets, including government, state and municipal. By early December 2012 over 100 public fleets had signed up to the service.
DEF Tracker now lists DEF pricing references for Calgary, AB, Charlotte, NC, Baltimore, MD, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, Cincinnati, OH, Chicago, IL, Tampa, FL, Baltimore, MD, Portland, OR, Toronto, ON, and Montreal, QC.
