Rentech Nitrogen Partners has completed the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) portion of its urea and DEF expansion project at its nitrogen fertilizer plant in East Dubuque, Illinois.
The DEF system was completed ahead of schedule, including the installation of mixing, storage and load-out equipment for DEF production. The second phase of the project, which includes increasing urea production capacity by 13% or 17,500 tons annually is on schedule to be completed by the end of this year. The extra capacity will be used for DEF production. The total capital budget for the urea and DEF expansion project remains approximately $6 million and is fully funded, the company says.
In July, discoverDEF.com reported that Yara has entered an exclusive agreement with Rentech Nitrogen for the purchase and distribution of DEF manufactured at the plant.
