DEF Tracker: Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pump prices increase

Christopher Goodfellow - 2 November 2012

The average U.S. Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pump price moved upward four cent to $2.80 per gallon between September and October 2012, reaching the second highest level recorded in the last 12 months, according to DEF Tracker.

The roll out of bulk DEF dispensing facilities at truck stop forecourts reached its highest level since DEF Tracker was launched, with 77 new locations coming online over the last 30 days.

Christopher Goodfellow, North American Emissions Analyst at Integer Research, publisher of DEF Tracker, said: "Reductions in raw material costs and moves by distributors to capture market share have caused Diesel Exhaust Fluid prices to decrease in tote refill, and full truck load and less than full truck load bulk delivery modes during October."

The average Canadian pump price remained level at CAD$0.80 per liter over the reporting period.

DEF Tracker added price references for Portland, OR, in the October issue, bringing the total number of metropolitan areas covered to 10. Integer is adding additional references on a monthly basis.
