Mercedes-Benz's BlueTEC-equipped vehicles are proving highly
popular among American buyers throughout the month of June,
following the introduction of the BlueTEC diesel technology to a
number of existing Mercedes-Benz SUV vehicles, according to a
statement from the company.
Mercedes-Benz recorded a 188.3% increase in sales in June
compared with the same period in the previous year, whilst total US
diesel sales increased by 128.4% in the same month.
Mercedes-Benz attributes the increase in sales to the use of
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) in the powerplants, rendering the
vehicles more fuel-efficient and less noisy. DEF significantly
reduces the level of pollution produced by the vehicle in the form
of soot and other pollutants.
