discoverDEF has added the 300th location with on-island Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pumps for over-the-road bulk refilling. There are now 43 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces with DEF available at the pump.
In terms of DEF pump infrastructure, Texas continues to lead the way and with 33 locations with pump facilities, accounts for over 10% of the North American total. North of the border, Ontario has three of the four newly installed units in the Canadian market.
At truck stops, Pilot is the front-runner, operating 187 locations with on-island pumps as of November 3, 2011. Love's Travel Stops are on track to meet their target of 125 installations before the end of the year and currently have 87 US locations with operational pumps.
A recently added pump, at the Stretch Truck Stop in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, was the state's first on-island pump at a truck stop not operated by the three major truckstop operators (Pilot Flying J, Love's Travel Stops, and TA Travel Centers of America). Open 24/7, offering diesel fuel, and retailing DEF at $2.69/gallon, the truck stop is representative of the increasing number of smaller chains and independents providing DEF to drivers.
