Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) distributor KOST USA is running a
series of seminars to educate DEFendal distributors about the
correct handling procedure for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).
Lyle Westerfield, Director of Business Development at KOST USA,
told DiscoverDEF that distributors and end users need to be aware
of contamination issues which are not as critical with other fluids
such as lubricants:
"Distributors are in large part used to dealing with products
for which some contamination won't hurt the vehicle or stop it from
running.Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is different and it needs to be
dispensed and stored in accordance with the ISO standards.The main
difference is that the equipment must be dedicated to DEF and DEF
alone. The contaminates that other systems can deal with the SCR
system will not. This is a critical point and part of the education
we are providing to our DEFendal distributors."
Westerfield added the key factor for distributors at the moment
is preparation; "The market is not going away and we have seen our
distributors that planned ahead and prepared for the Diesel Exhaust
Fluid (DEF) rollout having the most success. This a
multi-million-gallon market that if you are prepared for you can
have much success. We are always here to help and I would encourage
